Question: Hi Alan, I am running a Turbo Technics 2.0 DOHC XR4x4. It is running 7 psi boost but the AFR is dropping down to 15 to 1 on full load. The DCU is wound fully up and the fuel pressure regulator is set to 2.9 bar. It is running (I think the original) CAV 5720XA510 5th injector. Do you know the flow rate for this and am I right in thinking it will be low impedence as the DCU uses a peak & hold injector driver (the same as the TT225 DCU). I am looking for a suitable replacement as I want to get the AFR to around 12.5 on full boost. Thanks in anticipation of your assistance.
Answer: Are you sure the injector is working? I'd expect to see better AFR than that. You could run up to 3.5 bar fuel pressure in the meantime.

Question: hi Alan, im having a slight lack of oil pressure in my charade gtti, the warning light started to flicker on idle,i put a different gauges on it and only got 10psi, so ive changed the oil pump, oil filter and put in 15w50 oil and even closed off the oil pressure relief valve and still only get 10psi when hot, does rise with the revs 2k=20psi, 3k=30psi and so on, also the main and big end bearing were replaced 10k ago, ive filtered and search the sump, filter & oil from the last 2 changes and found no bits of metal, just wandering what you would recommend checking next to try and sort this, big thanks in advance. from simon
Answer: Hi Simon - I'd expect to see better oil pressure than that. It's possible that although the bearings have been replaced, the actual crank clearance is too high. If you can't track it down to anything else, you may have to stip it and check.

Question: hi there alan you spoke of the vf34. would a td05 20g do the job as im looking for something close to 400brake on a 2.5 setup. im not after power in the high rev range. would be happy with the turbo maxxed out by 5000rpm as i rarely go over that anyway.
Answer: We've set them up with the 20g and seen 400 bhp. I'd say to call our Martyn on 01752 345880 so he can get down to details about it, as there is plenty to talk about!

Question: hi there alan, just completed 2000 miles on my new sti 2.5 shortblock. what oil would you reccommend to use now and how frequently to change it? thanks
Answer: You should be ok to go for Synthetic now. We tend to go for 15w 50 oil, considering it doesn't get very cold dowm here, but you might choose a 10w 40 if you are much further north! Frequency depends on a few factors, but 3K to 5K isn't overdoing it.
