Question: Alan,Thanks for all the information and I have one more question. Are there any engines interchangeable for this 1996 Jeep Cherakee Country, 4L engine? George
Answer: I would suggest a turbo diesel, on the basis that it would be much better in miles per gallon. In all honesty, you would be better off selling your car and buying the right one!

Question: hi there alan, i bought my mr2 in about a year or more ago to have some work done for an mot and ask\'d about a possible turbo transplant. You gave me some general figures but nothing specific in prices. I wanted to get the turbo then get the work done to boost the bhp to 350+bhp at a later date. Any chance of some closer figures for part prices and labour prices ? so i can try and come up with a total figure ? I would prefer the engine to be a rebuild or v low mileage. thanks mic
Answer: Hi Micah - are you sure you want to do this? It's a very expensive way to end up with an MR2 turbo, considering they are freely available on the open market. If you insist, I'd say 3500 or so..

Question: Alan ,lets take a new approach on my problem. I,am bringing my Jeep to your garage for a tune up, The only information you have ,is give that Jeep a good tune-up. In detail, as a mechanic what would do? George
Answer: Hi George. As a mechanic, I would check the exhaust emissions and oxygen sensor voltage at idle and 3000 rpm. If I had a rolling road, ( I do have one! ) I would test the car under load. If the figures match the factory requirements, I would give it back to you. Then I would tell you to drive more slowly and blow your tyres up, and remove the heavy stuff you are carting around including the passengers, especially if they are fat. If the car doesn't match the factory figures then there is something wrong with it, and if I were you, I'd get it fixed pronto. You can't actually tune one of those, as there is no adjustment provided for at all. Regards, Alan

Question: Hi Alan, was wondering what the \'drive-in-drive out\' price would be for a 2.0 16v ABF conversion in my Golf Cab? gonna need the gearbox too as mine only has a four speed.
Answer: We did this once, but the owner supplied the engine. TSR Performance supply the mounts and exhaust manifold, plus a wiring loom. I'd say any conversion like this is 3000 to get anywhere near it.

Question: 1996 Jeep Cherakee, 6 cyl.4 L.123000 miles .How can I tune it up to get better milege?Didn\'t you see this question in my first letter?
Answer: Yes, and you can't! If it's working properly, that's as good as you'll get it, unless you can find it within yourself to drive more conservatively. Let's face it, you haven't bought an economy car now have you?
