Question: Hello Alan, I\'ve bought a Sierra Xr4i 2WD with 2.8i V6 Cologne engine. I would like to know which are the options to turbo upgrade this engine properly for Hill Climbing races and how much will cost such a operation ? Thank you for kind answer.
Answer: I've been fitting these kits for years, although it is getting harder to get the parts, so you may have to adapt yourself. We use the T3 Garrett turbo, which is good for 300 bhp if the rest of the equipment is built to match. We normally charge 3000 upwards to properly supply and fit these turbos.

Question: Thanks Alan - I will be patient and leave the ECU alone for you to sort out! Having read the next post after my last one it made me curious - what sort of typical torque/BHP would you expect to see from my 1995 JDM WRX 5 door, currently std but fitting a front mount & induction then setup properly with a SIMTEK?
Answer: Certainly 270 bhp, but with more torque at low revs than your average STi! The 5 door usually has a tiddly turbo, but that's not always a bad thing. The sky is the limit if you have the budget of course!

Question: MY00 uk turbo. Standard apart from rear box. Hi Alan, I tried looking on your dyno maps but cant see one for my car. What is the realistic expectation for a remap of my car in terms of output. I know all cars are different but is there a minimum you would expect. Cheers.
Answer: Hi Simon- the UK turbo normally puts out around 210 bhp on our dyno if all is tip top. A decat (or sports cat) and remap would normally take that to 250/260 bhp. The best part of the conversion however is the extra torque all the way up the rev range, which has led many customers to believe the gain is bigger than that! Question: Hi Alan 1995 JDM WRX 5 door I note that the JDM power outputs for WRX range from 220 to 280 for WRX around this MY - I was browsing EBAY for some spares and on several occasions have seen varying JDM ECU\'s for sale some being the 280PS variety for 93-96 WRX - as a rule of thumb are these safe to fit to my Wagon or are the diferent WRX engines actually physically different as well? (like the STI for example) - was just thinking of perhaps a cheap mod until I get you to do the SImtek? Engine details are EJ20G DW4NE, code GF8C58D which as far as I can see are 220PS? Thanks Andy
Answer: Hi Andy- In most cases you can't exchange the ECU's and in any event you still can't get at the tuning even if you do! If you are thinking of going for a Simtek later on, I'd just leave it as it is for now, as the finished results will be far and away superior.

Question: Hi Alan,I have got a newage Impreza that has been remapped, basic spec is tdo5,full decat and fmic. i am considering refitting the standard cat downpipe due to hassle of keep swapping over come mot time, apart from a reduction in power will it cause any problems? i am hoping to leave the map alone just in case i ever decide to fit the decat again, would this be possible or will i need the map tweaked? thanks
Answer: You could fit a sports cat, and meet it half way? they are cheaper now, and the use of one may mean you wouldn't need to tweak the mapping by much if anything. I'd certainly recommend checking the car out after any changes.
