Question: Hi,about 9 months ago I bought a supercharged st24,looking back through my recipts,I found that you have worked on it,you did a rolling road test and it was pushing out 255.6bhp,when at full throttle the boost gauge goes up between 0 0.5,would it be possible to get more boost whilst still being reliable as I would like quicker acceleration.
Answer: I'd leave it alone if I were you! It goes just fine as it is, and it would be a pity to break it, as it cost a lot to convert.

Question: Thanks for your reply. The local garage did a code read which was 9999. However that just gives a list of half a dozen components that could be faulty. They said it was the lambda sensor and replaced it for 100 but this has made no difference. It seems just guess work to me. They say it is perfectly okay to drive and they did an emission check after they replaced the lambda sensor and said they were perfect. Is it realy safe to drive? It does drive ok even with the light on. Any more info would be helpful as I need to make a 400 mile round trip on Wednesday and have read that driving could lead to more expensive repairs?
Answer: It sounds fine to go I'd say. I'm assuming they must have checked the lambda voltage and based thier diagnosis on that. These on board diagnostic systems are far from perfect, and as long as you aren't running rich enough or weak enough to cause a problem, it should be just dandy.

Question: Rover 623- Why does the emissions warning light on the dashboard keep coming on when the engine gets hot?
Answer: You need to have a code read done to find out. A dealer or tuner should do that for around 30.

Question: Hi Alan Just bought a scooby wrx and i am well pleased with it. Just wondering about two things. 1st is a dump valve, i know the scooby has a standard one just wondering if an aftermarket one is best? have been told its not as it will mess the mixture up?? secondly i want to buy a turbo timer. is it hard for a garage to fit as there isn\'t that many good garages around here and i dont want them to mess it up shall we say? Thanks Gav
Answer: Hi Gavin - In both instances there are better things you could spend your money on! We only fit dump valves on high boost cars as the original one does it better in most cases. I can take or leave turbo timers on the basis that you can't walk away and leave the engine to cool down on its own anyway. I know it's unlikely, but I did once have a car jam at full throttle on me which had a turbo timer, so I couldn't switch it off! that was very entertaining... Some of these devices have extra features, and we can supply one that comes with a plug in loom, so its an easy fit. Call me if you'd like one!

Question: I have an 1989 Mercedes 25-16 excellent body and running gear, I would like to re engineer a very tired engine to something that can compete with todays cars, any sugestions and have you rebuilt or re engineered one before ? regards Jim
Answer: Hi Jim - there isn't much we haven't tackled, and we do have the benefit of our own machine shop. I don't recall specifically modifying one of these engines, although we have rebuilt them previously, mainly head work. I don't see a problem with working on one, we can obtain forged pistons made to order for example, and we could research to find out what we need to know re cam profiles. I have a fair knowledge of the KE injection system. If you'd like to chat about it, please call me on 01752 345880 office hours. Alan
