Question: hi Alan i got s2 turbo 1.8cvh conversion and i think it is holding back and over fueling when you boot it to about 4 /5000 rpm it holds back a bit and it smells of unburnt petrol often any ideas? thanks
Answer: Loads of different problems could cause that, but number one is to check the boost hoses between the turbo and the throttle body, as any leak here would make it run very rich. Alan

Question: '54 Scooby- would you be able to fit a really loud dump valve and boost gauge on my car for me and roughly how much will it cost ?
Answer: Sure.. the loudest ones are turbosmart or Blitz. Prices from 180 to 250 plus vat. Gauges go from 80 or so, big choice here! Let us know what you'd like style wise, and we can supply it. Just call on 01752 345880 to discuss!

Question: Scooby WRX 1994- Just fitted a bailey dump valve, simota panel filter & full afterburner de-cat system. Can you tell me what the small probe ( 2 wire ) in the original down pipe/cat is for.? The new down pipe only has a fitting for a lambda sensor! So I have left this probe diconnected for now. Will I need a re-map now these new parts are fitted?
Answer: That's the exhaust gas temp probe. Most people just tie them back out of the way, but leave them plugged in. I'd say a rolling road session would be a good move, to see what's going on right now, and go from there. There are undeniable benefits from setting these cars up well, but you'd need an Apexi or Simtek ECU to achieve it.

Question: Hi, My Jag XJ 4.0 sometimes cuts out when the engine is warm. It always starts first time. Any ideas? Thanks.
Answer: Poor idle control or poor mixture control. I'm not sure if yours has by pass idle adjustment or not, but having had the mixture checked. I'd clean the throttle body internals, and go from there.

Question: Hi.i\'ve got a 2000 mondeo st24 and it seems to idle to high when warm/hot.When driving and coming to a juction it seem\'s to rev to about 1500 rpm then slowly comes to about 1200 rpm but does not seem to go below.can you help? is there any sensors/valves i could try? P.S it has a mondeo st220 throttle body & a pipercross induction kit fitted. Hope you can help Many thanks Lee
Answer: Hi Lee- I'd take a look for air leaks first, but the fact of a modified throttle body rings alarm bells right away. No kidding, people mess with these systems at their peril! They are bad enough for idle faults as it is without sticking bits on from other cars.
