Question: Alan Hoping to pick your brains on this one! I have the 168Bhp Turbo Technics Scircco GTX conversion, I have emailed you previously for help!! I am thinking of changing the stock TT Intercooler fitted for a larger unit. Ive stripped and painted the car, engine out etc so was going to fit a massive cooler (600x300x120 core). My question is will this have any negative effect of performance/boost/response. Most sites just state \"the bigger the better\" but surely a massive cooler will take longer to boost up to pressure as the volume is much larger. Your views much appreciated Tristan
Answer: Hi.. It depends on the boost used, and the way you use it. If you're just poodling about, the standard unit is fine. If you're going to track day it, you need a bigger intercooler and no mistake. You are probably going to be in the middle somewhere, so the compromise is better response from a small cooler, and better charge cooling from a big one. As they say on Big Brother " You Decide!"

Question: hi alan, my RS has developed a rough idle have checked the car for air leaks can't seem to find any however on tick over the only way i can get to idle proper is to depress the sensor plate slightly then its idles so smooth and wen i let go its rough again and close to cutting out have compresion tesed it all cylinders ar within 1/2 bar of eachother at max 11,1/2 on each and done leak down test that says 20% leakage just wondered if there was adjustment on the sensor plate and how or if u have any idea what may be causein this many thanks STUART
Answer: It's too weak! you need to adjust the sensor plate position with the allen key down the hole in the metering unit, or better still, ask a nice Man with a gas analyser to do it for you.

Question: Well i sorted out the smoke that i asked you about last time, it turned out that i had the ISCV plug on the no.1 injector!!! Now that its on the road and driving how do you advise running it in, and am i ok still getting abit of blue smoke after only 15miles??? When should i start worrying about it still smoking??? Cheers Alan, hopefully won\'t be to long then untill i booking it in for a rolling road session!!
Answer: Hi.. A new engine will smoke a bit until the bores wear in. Just take it steady, sticking to the speed limit is a good wheeze, and quite a shock for some of my customers! Check the oil and water daily!

Question: i have put a 3.0 in my calibra will a chip help it run on a 2.5 ecu it runs but its not quite right when it gets to 140 feels like it holding back it used to piss 160 when it was 2.5
Answer: I doubt it would be exactly right! A rolling road session would be a good move at this point. At least you'd know how far off you are. You may need a piggy-back ECU as well.

Question: I've got an Evo 8 260 what can you do for a mild tune, just want to get some of that restricted feeling out of it,looking to spend up to a 1000
Answer: Hello Chris- We can easily improve power and torque by fitting a de-cat exhaust, and re-mapping on our rolling road with Ecutek. I would say 300 bhp no problem, cost just over 1000.
