Question: Hi Alan, Im after some advice on improving my Supra, mainly with respect to suspension/handling but also to increase bhp.I guess a Superchip would remedy the power, but what would be the costs as have limited budget? Have booked a drift lesson in April,and track time in May, so what suspension do i need? Any help much appreciated, Ben.
Answer: Hi Ben. Anything with a lower spring would be in the right direction, although you need to beware of overdoing it. It's best to try and improve the handling as well as the roadholding! You will have to compromise if you need the car for road use as well. You'll soon realise the need for stiffer suspension if you drive the car on a track. You have the option of adjustable shocks, which will enable a stiffer track setting. Drifting needs a very specific suspension design, and makes the car useless for anything else, if you want to really go for it!

Question: I have a 92 pug 205 1.9 GTI which seems to suffer from a intermitent hesitation when the engine speed is over 3000 rpm.This occurs when the engine has warmed up and I\'ve been driving for half an hour or more. I have changed the plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm but it makes no difference. Can you help? Thanks Steve
Answer: Hi..best get it checked out on a rolling road really, then it can be tested under load.

Question: hi, ive got an 1100cc mini running a 1 3/4 su carb,pipercross airfilter swiftune sw5 camshaft, 3 branch exhaust manifold, alloy inlet manifold. nothin done to the head. ive just had all new pistons,rings, a complete bottem end overhaul really. board out to +40. cnt get it running aswell as i think it cud b. wat could you do with it to get the power up, after its run in abit! and how much do u think it will cost? thanks chris
Answer: Hello Chris - Full rolling road session including sorting out the SU is ?60 plus vat. It would definitely go better!

Question: Hello nice site, I am building a draw through turbo kit for a classic mini with a 40dcoe carb, I am aware of the need for a carbon seal in the turbo and was wondering if there is a turbo with carbon seal as standard as i work in an auto salvage yard and it would be cheaper and easier than a turbo re-build. many thanks keep up the good work :-)
Answer: Hi..I can't think of one these days! We could modify the turbo to incorporate a double seal, I think it's around ?250 with bearings and balance?

Question: Hi there, I recently had to have the cylinder head skimmed due to over heating and warping etc, I had 7 thou taken off the head, it now seems that the timing is out, I have had the car dyno\'d since and it has lost 11 wbhp, is it possible to calculate how much the timing is out ??
Answer: Hi.. You may have an ignition timing issue? I would guess the cam timing has been checked. 7 thou won't adversely affect the cam timing. You need to short out the diagnostic plug to set the timing of course.
