Question: Hi Alan, I fitted a boost gauge and a GBE valve to my 95 Rover 220 Coupe (T25 turbo/recirc DV), even with the valve fully closed it only boosts to about 13psi for a second then falls back to 10psi. What is likely to be causing this as I was hoping to set it to 13psi.
Answer: Hi.. You may find it difficult to maintain full boost at high rpm. Have you had any kind of device fitted to control overboost? Normally, these will allow you to run to 14 psi, and will then cut after a few seconds.

Question: I have a skoda octavia 1.9sdi there is a lack of power in all gears when going slow but seems to clear it self once you put the boot down hasn't had a fuel filter for a while would this cause it
Answer: Unlikely I would say, although it won't hurt to fit one. You may need a rolling road session to see what's going on here. These are prone to mass air flow sensor faults, although they tend to be flat all round if that's the case.

Question: Alan, Finally after to many years drooling over GT40's I've finally got my hands on a replica monocoque chassis (made to the original ford drawings) and original body panels. I have an original ZF 25/2 gearbox and a 1972 351 Ford windsor V8 with zero balanced forged crank, h-beam rods, forged pistons and roller lifters with 4 sets of 48 IDA webers to fit on top. A 'mild' cam to give me a relatively low idle speed and a CR of 10.5:1 which should be good for about 400BHP. I'm also using 'Trickflow' aluminium heads. I need an inlet manifold for the engine and also a stainless steel exhaust system which I want to be as near to original as possible (its a 'replica' GT40, dont mention 'kit car' to me please). I would also like you to 'drop' the engine into the chassis and eventually start it up and tune the webers. Finally I also have a Ford SVO 302 ci V8 ready to run which is 'surplus to requirements' I had to buy it as part of the deal when buying the chassis g/box and body. I plan to take the webers from this engine and use them on the 351W. Would you be interested in aquiring this engine? Obviously you would want to see it but could we do some sort of PX (if you want the 302 that is.....). I will have the chassis and engines hopefully by Feb next year. Thanks in advance Andy Watson
Answer: Hello Andrew - I'm with you all the way on this one! Our favourite kind of project. We can supply whatever you need I'm sure. If you'd like to drop in to us sometime, it would be good to discuss this further over some PG Tips. There is a lot to discuss!

Question: Renault 2.2 engine. What should be the exhaust and inlet tappet clearances. This engine is fitted to a Trafic converted to propane, but I\'m told its the same engine as espace? The engine runs a bit hotter and I\'ve just re-ground valves. Tappets seem to close up.
Answer: Hi.. it's .10 to.15 mm inlet and .2 to.25mm exhaust set cold.

Question: Sierra 2.8 V6 Turbo Technics- Hi there, I'm the chap who recently bought the 3-stage warm-up regulator and vacuum capsule from you. Before I get the car set-up I want to remake the downpipe from the turbo as it is a terrible bodge what's on there - the pipe out of the back of the turbo is only 2 " diameter. What would you recommend diameter-wise for this engine to breath properly? Also what are the typical symptoms of faulty mechanical injectors? Many thanks Mark Taylor, London
Answer: Hello Mark - A 2.5" pipe is fine, and not too hard to work with. Poor running can often be put down to duff injectors. You can't afford to make too many mistakes with mixture when tuning turbo cars, so I'd recommend fishing them out, and get them checked by your local LSUK asnu dealer, or send them to us, and we'll get it done for you. If we get the chance to rolling road it, I'd deal with all of that if you require.
