Question: hi alan, sorry i forgot to let you know that the car i have is a 93 audi 80 2lt 16v i dont think the engine is shot as it drives very well, it doesn't smoke at all and it's very quiet once started up. i have noticed that there is some kind of diaphram just above the oil filter which i assume as something to do with the pressure of the oil.the oil pressure gauge reads max until the engine is warm could this diaphram be sticking causing high pressure, and could this have anything to do with the rattle when turning the car over. thanks alot there's not many people willing to give free advice these days as the guy said before me your a credit to the industry
Answer: Hi.. I'm wondering if the bottom end or the top is making the noise? If you have good oil pressure, it would indicate the engine bearings are ok. Some engines tend to be noisy from the bottom end on start up, but I didn't think the Audi was one of them. You may have a lifter problem, resulting in noisy tappets on start up.

Question: hi alan, when i first start my car after a day or two of without use for a split second the engine sounds like it\'s got no oil in it, but only for a brief moment whilst the engine fires up. i have just done an oil change but the noise is still there. any help would be appreciated thanks.
Answer: I wish I knew what sort of car you have! It's possible the oil pressure is taking a while to build up. It's also possible the motor is shot! You could try turning the engine over with no throttle, and leave it to idle slowly for a bit until it shuts up.

Question: RE Esacort Cosworth - hi alan, thanks for the advice before tried what you recomended but as soon as i pull the plug off it stalls. upon reconection it take a few seconds longer to start have tried to remove plug really slow but it only runs on for say 2 secs longer not enough to get any adjust ment should i get some one to hold excellerator down whilst i disconnect it then give it a good turn (clockwise) i presume or should i just let ford have a look.which im reluctant as last time i was at garage half the lads there had never even seen one in the flesh so as to speak thanks again for the free service your a credit to the industry
Answer: OK, try turning the idle by pass screw out a bit first. If it's too fast, you know you've just overdone it a little! You can't hurt anything by adjusting that bit. Of course, I have no idea about any other parts on the car, and bear in mind you may have other faults. Thanks for nice comments, it's my pleasure.

Question: I have just bought a 1995 HK 4WD Edition S Subaru Impreza does this model have a speed limiter. And if yes how can it be removed?
Answer: Hi.. I thought I'd heard of all of them, but there you go! Assuming it's an import model, it certainly would have from the factory. If you email me the model number, I'll look it up and tell you all about it. You'll find it just under the chassis number on the alloy plate.
