Question: It was rolling road tested recently, however this proved to be a problem as the Traction control could not be turned off, so the fuse had to be removed causing lights to come on and a fault code to be logged. the car went into safe mode preventing an accurate reading, so was a waste of time and money. i'm looking at using software on www.espautomotive.com to monitor the info myself, but without figures to compare with, it might turn out to be a waste of time. Any ideas?
Answer: Dear oh dear, and they call it progress... You could monitor boost using an externally mounted gauge, as long as you can find somewhere in the plenum to plug it in. My inclination is to direct you to a specialist if you can't find the means to test it properly yourself. What's the other option, get rid of the damn thing?

Question: Peugeot 806 tdi- I have had the boost checked its getting .5bar at 3000rpm intercooler has been pressure checked, all boost pipes ok, egr is working ok, exhaust ok,its pre ecu! any ideas please
Answer: You would normally be seeing a little more boost than that, I'd say about .8 bar, but I'd guess your problem is more likely to be fuelling - pump timing etc.

Question: Do you know of anywhere on the net, or otherwise where i can get hold of figures for my peugeot 307. I don't need the standard BHP/Torque figures, but the info on boost, psi, MAF etc. i keep getting fobbed off by peugeot that my car is ok according to the ecu diagnosis, but i know something is wrong and would like to get it checked against the book figures to see where the fault is. Any help or guidance would be gratefully received.
Answer: Hello Dave- As you mention boost, I'm assuming this is a turbo diesel. We don't get into management much on those, but I'd say your best bet is to get it rolling roaded first, to see where you are right now. Manufacturers hardly ever give out boost info, it's like a big secret! I find most run at around .8 to .9 bar. Mass air meters are a common fail on tdi's when they run ok, but flat as hell.

Question: Escort Zetec-Hello, above car has just failed it's mot on high emmisions 7.8 co , Ford dealer plugged in diagnostic tool and reported Lambda sensor was faulty , changed that and no difference , Ford dealer no longer interested , any ideas?
Answer: You mean apart from telling the dealer's service manager he's a prat? There are a number of possibilities, including fuel pressure, MAF meter, coolant sensor or even the ECU. The dealer should at least give you some idea, as they represent Ford Motor Co. and can't just wash their hands of it. Give them hell!

Question: Hi My 98 8v megane has a idle problem and a fun sound fron the exhaust.Just had head gasket replced cause a build up of oil in coolent bottle common problem so im told.Valves are ok had that checked. could it be tight tappet or a sensor problem thanks graham
Answer: What does the garage who just did the work say? It's their problem to check it out at least! I'd be asking for an emission test at least...
