Question: I took it back to the Vauxhall dealer for another check and the same two problems came up again: the cam shaft sensor and crank shaft sensor. They said because they did not fit them the parts are not warranted. The only problem I have is when I first start the car the engine management light comes on and the rev counter will not go above 4000 revs, but if I turn the ignition off and then turn it back on again the light goes out and the engine will run fine.
Answer: Further to your Cavalier problem, I would say that the management light and the bad running would indicate that it is going into limp home mode. When the light is off it's obviously happy. Despite the fact that you bought the devices elsewhere, they still have an obligation by wrongly diagnosing the sensor failures, go back and insist they re-check it ..!

Question: Could you tell me what the most effective mods would be to raise power on my engine? It a renault laguna 1.8 8v with multi point injection.
Answer: Simple answer...not very much !...It is hard to do much with these without spending more than it's worth. You could just go the induction kit and chip route, and wait until you can go for a faster car !..it's always best in the long run.....A chip is ?165 plus vat and the filter is around ?85 plus vat..

Question: have a L reg cavalier sri 16v eco-tech engine and I keep getting the engine management light come on I took It down to a vauxhall dealer and they done a tech 1 engine check and they told me that i needed a cam shaft sensor and a crank shaft sensor I had the two sensors fitted by another garage and the light is still coming on I have also changed the e.c.u. box the car has done 138.000 miles
Answer: Difficult one this as we have all experienced this one! The trouble is the ECU will respond to a fault on that circuit whether it is the sensor at fault or not. You may have wiring faults. I would suggest another code read, and see what results from that. Do you have any actual running faults ?..the system can cry Wolf !

Question: I am having trouble fixing my pipercross bolt on filter onto my car. I have a G-reg 1300cc Vauxhall Astra (mk2). I removed the original filter and its casing to reveal the carb. I then took the base plate and put it on, its fits perfectly! However, the three bolts(the ones with the thread on the inside) from the original case are too long. They protrude upwards, so the pipercross cannot go down onto the base plate. Do i need smaller bolts, or should i have had some other fixing device in with the base pl
Answer: Yes, you need shorter bolts, they should have been in the kit......You should be able to pick them up in an oddpack from Halfords. Don't forget the lock washers, as you don't want the bolts in the engine. (nasty) You would be well advised to either have the car set up on a rolling road, or at least go up on the primary main jet one size (0.05mm )

Question: hi there i have just purchased a phase 2 on an e reg ignition module on the engine side of the fire wall i was wandering if it is possible to chip this model and what mods do you recomend it has a bleed valve, jetex air filter and scorpion exhaust and a large alloy intercooler many thanks mark.
Answer: To be honest, I would say you are about there ! There isn't much more you can do without pulling the engine to bits. A sensible boost pressure would be around 1 bar (14 psi). Have you had the car on a rolling road ?..a tweak on the mixture could be useful, and of course you could fit the group A carburetter ....GT Tuning do these. If you don't over do the boost, it's possible to get some reliability !
