Question: Hi,i have a 2001 classic turbo and the only mod\'s are air filter n decat exhaust,i\'m worried that if i run without remap which i can\'t afford at moment i\'l ruin the engine.Is it ok to run without remap as i dont thrash it really for a while or do i need to remap asap? thank\'s Khalil
Answer: Hi Khalil - I'm more concerned about the air filter than the exhaust. Changing the filter can have quite a dramatic effect on the mapping. I'd suggest either refitting the original air box until you can get it remapped, or just go steady in the meantime.

Question: Hi Alan, problem i have, i was driving home from work and after pulling off from traffic lights, car back fired and wouldnt crank over, it was just clicking, pulled oil cap off and there was smoke coming out of engine, i know its hard to decipher whats wrong without checking it, but would you have any idea what it could be, engine as just been serviced less than 100 miles ago and as only covered 27000 miles and if the worst came what would a rebuild cost and would all pistons need doing or could just one be replaced, by all accounts the corsa vxr seems to have a problem with the rings breaking in piston 4 regards leyon
Answer: Hi Leyon - It doesn't sound too good does it? Are you local? it's one of things we'd need to take a look at. I'm not aware of any specific failures from those engines that would do that. It doesn't sound like ring breakage. If you're near us, give us a call on 01752 345880 tomorrow.

Question: hi alan, just wanted your opinion on a 1993 nissan pulsar gtir, are they easy to tune ? are they fragile ? i saw the one you had at the drag strip at smetharpe, it looked impressive. any info would be usefull, cheers, matt
Answer: Hi Matt - I've always liked these, they are very tuneable and have great handling. They are now all long in the tooth, and need a very good look at before buying. The gearboxes can be an issue, the engines are fine if not overboosted. 300 bhp is ok for a decent stock motor. If you see one, make sure you check it out properly. If nothing else, they stand out well in a car park!

Question: Hi how much would you charge if i sent you a bare 2.0 CDB and some JDM big port heads and in return wanted a 2.1 stroker fully assembled and timed up ready to drop straight in with the following spec: 2.5 nitrided crank wiseco pistons I beam rods ACL race bearings cosworth stopper head gaskets with the heads supplied by me RCM modified 11mm oil pump RCM 14mm head stud conversion brand new full cambelt kit including water pump, using a kevlar belt. All seals etc And anything i may have missed for 600-650 bhp. What would you rate the above engine to? Would it last with 2 bar thrown at it through a GT30 Billet. Thanks.
Answer: Hi.. Your spec looks fine, we can offer a few slight changes to that, and we'd have no difficulty in saying that the engine would certainly cope with that amount of cylinder fill.
