Question: hi alan, just wanted to know how much a remap would be for a 1.6 golf mk4 and whether it would be worth it. also, any other modifications that would be worthwhile. thanks
Answer: Hi. I'd say it's unlikely you'd get much extra out of that one, if it's the one I'm thinking of. You'd be better off buying a classic Golf Gti, which is much more like it, and very tuneable.

Question: Long time no speak :) Hows business Sir? What kinda magic can you do with a 535 BMW 1999 Model? Jamie
Answer: Hi Jamie - Your cars are getting more mature in style, along with your good self! We can Superchip them, adds a bit of torque and smooths it all out. If you're about any time, come on in! 230 inc vat and dyno. It'll be great to meet up again..

Question: hi i have a s2 escort rs turbo, its got a 1.8 zvh, stage 1 turbo, bleed valve and its chipped and set to 15psi,the problem is when its cold it runs really rough for the first 15 to 20 seconds then clears itself, its stopped boosting properly aswell, it will hit 10 psi in 1st and 2nd then 3rd 4th and 5th it hits 15psi but as soon as its up to normal running temp theres no boost at all, could this be the actuator? ive bought a -31 in the hope it is,cheers
Answer: Hi Pete - These cars have very specific faults, as the various functions are all carried out by different parts of the management. There is a temp sensor, linked to the hydraulic pressure actuator via the ECU. It sounds like that part of the system needs checking out, they frequently have wiring faults. The boost is controlled by the Amal valve as standard, but they are often modified. Bleed valves make the boost wander all over the place, so it's no surprise! A decent electronic controller might be a good plan, such as the E boost street, we sell them for 200 plus vat.

Question: Hi Can you make custom forged pistons and rods and if so, roughly how much would they be? It\'s for a 700cc, 3 cyl. engine. Also how long does it take for forged pistons to warm up? Thanks Jake
Answer: Pistons yes, rods no. Custom pistons take roughly four weeks. I'd say they don't take any longer than a sensible amount for any engine.

Question: Hi Alan STi V4 how can i make my scooby go quicker? chip? remap? wot would u advise? thanks
Answer: As your Version 4 can't be remapped directly, I'd suggest a Simtek ECU. cost 995 inc vat fitted and mapped. With a decat, you'll see an extra 40 bhp at least right away, plus better torque. Apart from that, it's all down to budget. If you can afford it, you can have it!
